Overcoming a Financial Hardship

At times, there are things that happen that are completely unexpected, and jeopardize your ability to pay your bills. Whether it is a natural disaster, unexpected medical bills, large home or auto repairs, or any other large expense, it can put you in a scary situation.

If you find yourself in debt that is unmanageable, there may be options to assist you in this time of need. If you are not able to pay your mortgage, your lender may have hardship programs that can help. As soon as you believe that you are not going to be able to afford your mortgage payment, you should reach out to the loss mitigation department at your mortgage servicer, to let them know of your situation. You are much more likely to receive assistance if you continue to communicate with your mortgage servicer, than if you just stop making your mortgage payments and fail to communicate with them.
